Virginia Highland-An Extraordinary Intown Community.
In the early 1900's Va Highland formed as a street car suburb and was comprised of many small neighborhoods. Throughout the years, the area has survived economic ebb and flow. In 1972 the Virginia Highland Civic Association was formed in response to combat a plan for a highway which would have devastated the area. The Association triumphed and as a result, a boundary was established uniting all of the tiny neighborhoods which formed present day Virginia Highland.
